At the May PWRW Board Meeting, Vicki Goode was installed as President to lead Preston West Republican Women for the second half of the year.
We have had a great PWRW year so far, thanks to the leadership of Marty Forte’ and the incredible board we have. Thanks to all who have stepped up and seen that we have
had great programs, interesting speakers and lots of fun!
If you are a member who has gotten out of the habit of attending meetings, there is no better time to get back on the bandwagon than May 22 at Brookhaven Country Club! We look
forward to our Diamond Anniversary luncheon which coincides with our fundraiser luncheon this year. We will enjoy the emcee talents of the always entertaining Motivational Speaker and former Congressman, Ed Foreman, who will introduce our compelling keynote speaker, Kelly Shackelford of the Liberty Institute. We will be honoring all former club presidents in attendance.
Over the summer months, let’s recruit additional members who can help us get additional Republicans elected. Get in the
habit of carrying membership forms with you to offer to women who are interested in making a difference politically.

Preston West's 60th Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser Luncheon is sure to be great fun with former Congressman Ed Foreman as Master of Ceremony, and dynamically inspiring with Liberty Institute's CEO Kelly Shackelford as keynote speaker. Please do not miss this opportunity to invite prospective members and spouses to be encouraged and pumped up to help elect Republicans! Please pick up your checkbook right now and send in your reservations. (I just did!)
And please note, spouses are important prospective members to bring to our event! A spouse can join Preston West as an
Associate Member for $15, and 100% of those dues support Preston West's efforts to elect local Republicans (some of our active member dues go to NFRW, TFRW and DCCRW). Please pick up an application form when you check in for our April
meeting, or contact our Membership Chair Carol Arnold.
I also urge you to note in this newsletter (a) the reminder on joining the Texas GOP's Grassroots Club (the easiest, most
reasonable way to support the state GOP and also to be relieved from receiving routine solicitations for more money!), and (b) the tips for voicing your opinion on proposed legislation of interest to you—this small effort helps Preston West participate in a big way to encourage our legislators to
be bold in conservative principles.
After this month, I will pass the baton to Vicki Goode in our 2013 tag-team presidency. As you can imagine, Vicki has remained active and involved this year even through the birth of a grandchild and the wedding of a child that kept her from
committing to lead our club these first months. It is a privilege to serve on the Preston West board with so many fabulous,
passionate women willing to take leadership roles for our cause!
Many blessings, Marty
Preston West rocks! DCCRW's Leadership Training last month
featured our Dee Phelps on "Being a Club President." In IMHO
it was the best presentation of the workshop. Our 1st VP/Program Chair Renee Cameron and our Membership Chair Carol Arnold also invested time to attend DCCRW's leadership programs with me in recent weeks. We've gleaned some ideas
for Preston West, and we've been delighted to share some of our tips with the other clubs as well. To be sure, Preston West is a leader among the Dallas County Republican Women's clubs—thanks to you all!
As this is Preston West's 60th Anniversary year, we aim to celebrate it on May 22! That event will continue to be our annual fundraiser luncheon for Republican candidates, but also will be a special occasion with the Hon. Ed Foreman serving as Emcee to toast our 60-year history and our past
presidents and special guests—he is sure to set the spirit for us. He will also introduce our coveted guest speaker Kelly Shackelford—President and CEO of the Liberty Institute. (When Mr. Shackelford is not speaking on national TV or
national talk shows or testifying before the Supreme Court on constitutional issues, he will be speaking to Preston West.)
More immediately, please note: Preston West will contribute a basket to TFRW's silent auction on Legislative Day in Austin on April 18. Our theme is "Family Game Night" in keeping with the GOP's Family Values platform. Please bring an item for the auction basket to PWRW's March 27 general meeting: card games, board games, game-night snacks like popcorn, tickets to puttputt or bowling, use your imagination!
Remember to be on the lookout for prospective PWRW members, coming-of-age voters we need to register, and people we can woo to the truth. With the culture against us, we may need to soften our approach, but we need never relax the unchanging principles of our Constitution.
God bless you,
Marty
The holiday season is always a busy one for the Preston West Republican Women. Please enjoy a few shots from our festivities at the DCCRP Christmas Party, the DCRW Christmas Tea, and of course our very own PWRW Christmas Party.
